The
sepals, receptacle, and some stems and possibly leaves are
“mossed,” that is, covered with elongated glands
which secrete a sticky, often scented, resin.
If the
moss is soft to the touch, the rose is probably of Centifolia
origin; if hard, of Damask or mixed origin.
