Your Rose May Be A

GALLICA If...

  • Color tends toward the purple, magenta or mauve, whether light or dark, or both.

  • Flowers are produced in sprays.

  • It does not grow more than about a meter in height with fairly rigid canes.

  • The plant produces copious suckers and soon forms a thicket.

  • There is a button eye, and/or the blooms are “quartered,” in the photo at right.

  • There is a powerful scent.

Remember, not all these parameters need to be present.
