Color
tends toward the purple, magenta or mauve, whether light or dark,
or both.
Flowers are produced in sprays.
It does not grow more than about
a meter in height with fairly rigid canes.
The plant produces copious
suckers and soon forms a thicket.
There is a button eye, and/or the
blooms are “quartered,” in the photo at right.
There is a powerful scent.
